America’s Top Fears 2015. From the site you linked in; “97% of the papers TAKING A POSITION on the subject”. The fact remains that about 2/3 of the papers did not “TAAKE A POSITION”. No Fear Shakespeare by SparkNotes features the complete edition of Romeo and Juliet side-by-side with an accessible, plain English translation. Nevertheless, the existence of the expert consensus on human-caused global warming is a reality, as is clear from an examination of the full body of evidence. For example, Naomi Oreskes found no rejections of the consensus in a survey of 928 abstracts performed in 2004. Doran & Zimmerman (2009) found a 97% consensus among scientists actively publishing climate research. Anderegg et al. (2010) reviewed publicly signed declarations supporting or rejecting human-caused global warming, and again found over 97% consensus among climate experts. Cook et al. (2013) found the same 97% result through a survey of over 12,000 climate abstracts from peer-reviewed journals, as well as from over 2,000 scientist author self-ratings, among abstracts and papers taking a position on the causes of global warming. In addition to these studies, we have the National Academies of Science from 33 different countries all endorsing the consensus. Dozens of scientific organizations have endorsed the consensus on human-caused global warming. Only one has ever rejected the consensus – the American Association of Petroleum Geologists – and even they shifted to a neutral position when members threatened to not renew their memberships due to its position of climate denial. In short, the 97% consensus on human-caused global warming is a robust result, found using several different methods in various studies over the past decade. It really shouldn’t be a surprise at this point, and denying it is, well, denial. Am I going to get an answer from you or are you going to simply regurgitate long debunked denier babble. When scientist who worked on the design of the climate model say that they have found major errors (plural) in that design work and those errors amplify 10 fold the impact of Carbon Dioxide and of Humans, then it’s time to re-examine the science. The science is what it is. You learned it in 4th grade. And none of the denier *amplification* is going to change that. And I’d like a cite please…. You of all people should know that Weather != Climate. Otherwise, early snowfall is an equivalent proof that globull warming is false. 1000 year storms are just that. Now– if we have 5x 1000 year storms in < 10 years, you may have a point. Oh dear Lord…weather is not equal to climate…even the dumber deniers know that…. We just had miles of fwy washed away in kern co. ca. did you see simi trucks and so many cars 3/4′ s covered in mud. Did you see the news? I am from Tehechapi Ca. We opened all the schools churches and housed, fed 100s of people. Does this count in your Global warming thoughts? It is the least we have to worry about in our world. Unless our the Pres. Al Gore, Hillery, etc. want to take the spotlight off of what a mess their ideas have made in the world. Or that any thing they have believed in, has ever been true, real. Don’t you know deep in their heart of hearts, when they look at themselves in the mirror they know how false they are. You also just had one of the worst droughts on record…the weather pattern that you just experienced is UNPRECEDENTED…. A large area of arid desert just had a drought… that NEVER happened before! Oh wait, yes it has! Many times, going back to the first settlers arriving there. Before AGW started. Same for floods, storms, tornadoes & etc. They ALL happened before, with cycles of highs and lows, long before AGW existed. Or do you deny this. San Fran is not in the desert…. LIE Global Warming was a Lie 141124. This following article appeared nearly a year ago with more warnings about global cooling. The reason I am inclined to believe this theory is personal, not provable. We were regular TV viewers of Sacramento meteorologist Tom Loffman because of the accuracy of his forecasts and followed him from Sacramento stations KCRA to KOVR. At the time he moved, coincidentally, the wife of one of our Mariner Group couples was also employed at KCRA. Her station gossip revealed that Loffman had been quietly discharged because “he wasn’t a team player. ” Notably, Loffman wrote an opinion piece, printed in the Bee, in which he disputed the conventional (liberal) wisdom that we were entering a period of global warming. He noted that Sacramento’s higher recorded temps were due to changes in sites of measurement from their original locations to the center of Downtown Sacto in the midst of blocks of concrete buildings and heavy traffic in order to produce the requisite “evidence” of rising temperatures in conformity with the theory. The McClatchy family, which originally owned KCRA, along with the Bee and every other news source in Sacramento, was forced by a court decision to give up its monopoly but that did not change the extremely liberal editorial slant of each news outlet, as true today as it ever has been. Loffman’s scientific observations and measurements, meticulously maintained since boyhood, not only did not support the theory of global warming, he postulated that we could be entering a period of global cooling. We met Tom Loffman when he came to church as a guest of fellow church members. In all of TV, I am sure there isn’t a more shy, self-effacing person, with a mild, non-celebrity personality than he has. Here are 2 links to Tom Loffman in case you want to check him out. Tom Loffman TV biography – Tom Loffman’s Sacramento Weather …. December 17th, 2013. Back in 2009, Al Gore boldly declared that “the entire north polar ice cap during some of the summer months could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years. ” Well, it turns out that was a lie along with almost everything else that Al Gore has been peddling. The truth is that the polar ice cap is actually growing. It is about 50 percent larger than it was at this time last year. And as you will read about below, a shocking UN report that was recently leaked shows that the planet has actually not been warming for the past 15 years. So if you are breathlessly anticipating that “global warming” will soon bring on the apocalypse, you can stop waiting. On the other hand, there is rising concern about what “global cooling” will soon do to the planet as we suffer through the beginning of the coldest winter in decades. Thanks to an unusually quiet solar cycle and an unusually high number of volcano eruptions, global temperatures have been falling. And if this cold weather persists, that could lead to massive global problems. Periods of very low temperatures throughout history have resulted in mass crop failures and widespread famines. Could that soon happen to us? The following are 16 signs that “global warming” was a lie and that we have now entered a period of global cooling…. 1. According to a leaked UN report that absolutely rocked the “global warming” believers, the earth has not gotten any warmer for the past 15 years. 2. The amount of ice covering the Arctic is up by 50 percent compared to this time in 2012. 3. In just one week in late November, a combined total of more than 1000 new cold temperature and snowfall records were set in the United States. 4. In just one week in December, a combined total of more than 2000 new cold temperature and snowfall records were set in the United States. 5. On December 15th, 53 percent of the United States was covered in snow. That was the highest level on this date in 11 years. 6. A snowstorm that spanned more than 1,000 miles slammed into New England on Sunday. 7. Some areas of upstate New York were hit with about six feet of snow a few days ago. 8. Chicago just experienced that coldest temperatures that it has seen in December in nearly 20 years. 9. On December 7th, Eugene, Oregon recorded the lowest temperature that it has seen since December 11th, 1972. 10. A few days ago, three feet of snow closed roads in Jerusalem. It was the worst snow storm in Israel since 1953. 11. Heavy snow also fell on parts of Saudi Arabia. That was considered to be extremely unusual. 12. The recent snowfall in Turkey was so bad that it closed 900 roads. 13. Temperatures have dropped so low that some Syrian war refugees are actually dying from the cold. 14. Cairo, Egypt just had the first snowfall that it has experienced in 100 years. 15. It was so cold in Canada recently that the Arctic Winter Games biathlon trials were forced indoors. 16. According to NASA satellite data, a temperature of minus 135 degrees Fahrenheit was recorded in Antarctica back in July. So why is all of this happening. Well, the number one factor affecting our climate is the giant ball of fire called the Sun that our planet revolves around. As I detailed in a previous article, solar activity has dropped to a 100 year low. The following is how a Space. com article recently described what we are currently experiencing…. The sun’s current space-weather cycle is the most anemic in 100 years, scientists say. Our star is now at “solar maximum,” the peak phase of its 11-year activity cycle. But this solar max is weak, and the overall current cycle, known as Solar Cycle 24, conjures up comparisons to the famously feeble Solar Cycle 14 in the early 1900s, researchers said. “None of us alive have ever seen such a weak cycle. So we will learn something,” Leif Svalgaard of Stanford University told reporters here today (Dec. 11) at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Another factor that is causing all of this cold weather is a dramatic rise in volcanic activity. Throughout human history, volcanic eruptions have produced some of the coldest winters ever recorded, and in 2013 we have witnessed a record number of volcanic eruptions. Something appears to be happening to the crust of the earth, and that is one of the reasons why I included the future eruption of Mt. Rainier in my new novel. The mainstream media does not talk about this much, but right now we are seeing a stunning rise in volcanic activity all over the planet. The truth is that volcanoes can influence our climate far more than normal human activity ever possibly could. When a tremendous amount of volcanic debris gets ejected into the atmosphere, it can have a huge impact on global temperatures and the consequences can be quite dramatic. The following historic examples come from Wikipedia…. The effects of volcanic eruptions on recent winters are modest in scale, but historically have been significant. Most recently, the 1991 explosion of Mount Pinatubo, a stratovolcano in the Philippines, cooled global temperatures for about 2–3 years. In 1883, the explosion of Krakatoa (Krakatau) created volcanic winter-like conditions. The four years following the explosion were unusually cold, and the winter of 1887-1888 included powerful blizzards. Record snowfalls were recorded worldwide. The 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora, a stratovolcano in Indonesia, occasioned mid-summer frosts in New York State and June snowfalls in New England and Newfoundland and Labrador in what came to be known as the “Year Without a Summer” of 1816. A paper written by Benjamin Franklin in 1783 blamed the unusually cool summer of 1783 on volcanic dust coming from Iceland, where the eruption of Laki volcano had released enormous amounts of sulfur dioxide, resulting in the death of much of the island’s livestock and a catastrophic famine which killed a quarter of the Icelandic population. Northern hemisphere temperatures dropped by about 1 °C in the year following the Laki eruption. In 1600, the Huaynaputina in Peru erupted. Tree ring studies show that 1601 was cold. Russia had its worst famine in 1601-1603. From 1600 to 1602, Switzerland, Latvia and Estonia had exceptionally cold winters. The wine harvest was late in 1601 in France, and in Peru and Germany, wine production collapsed. Peach trees bloomed late in China, and Lake Suwa in Japan froze early. So are we now heading for a similar period of time. Will lower temperatures lead to mass crop failures and widespread global famine? [The Same was asked about global warming]. Weather Channel Founder Explains the History of the Global Warming Hoax 140317. How the Global Warming Scare Began. Published on Mar 12, 2014. A great scientist named Roger Revelle had Al Gore in his class at Harvard and the Global Warming campaign was born. Revelle tried to calm things down years later, but Gore said Revelle was Senile and refused to debate. John Coleman documents the entire story and shows how our tax dollars are perpetuating the Global Warming alarmist campaign even though temperatures have not risen in years and years. By Staff Writer. Weather Channel Founder John Coleman explains the history of the Global Warming hoax. John Coleman, an award-winning meteorologist and weatherman with sixty years of experience and founder of the Weather Channel, produced a video explaining the history of the man-made global warming hoax (see video below). Coleman, a former broadcast meteorologist of the year of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), explains that after being a member for several years, he quit the AMS after it became very clear to him that “the politics had gotten in the way of the science. Coleman explains that there is no man-made global warming, and he’s sure of it. Coleman says that if there were evidence of man-made global warming, he would have been dedicated his life to stopping it:. “I love our wonderful planet Earth. If I thought it was threatened by global warming, I would devote my life to stopping the warming!”. Now they call it “climate change” instead of global warming, because the warming has stopped, says Coleman, and that $4. 7 billion in taxpayer money is funding “bogus reports” and “bogus research. Coleman explains that any warming or “climate change” is extremely negligible from a long-term perspective and certainly nothing unusual or alarming, and points out that Antarctic sea ice is close to an all-time high, and the polar bear population is as high as it’s been in recorded history. In regards to rising sea levels, Coleman says that:. “It’s rising at about the rate of about six inches per hundred years, as part of this inter-glacial period. When North America was covered in a 400 foot thick ice core at the end of the last ice age, the oceans were low, and then as that ice melted, of course the oceans have risen. That rise has been gentle and is not important. At about the 11:30 mark, Coleman begins a detailed explanation about just how the global warming hoax was started and heated up, including how Al Gore got involved in the movement. That guy is certifiable and that’s who you use. Sahara Desert is getting greener 150602. Another global warming catastrophe: the Sahara Desert is getting greener. POSTED AT 5:21 PM ON JUNE 2, 2015 BY JAZZ SHAW. This story is actually quite fascinating and it obviously has something to do with changes in the climate, but just how to explain it all remains a subject of contention. You would think that increasing temperatures would make things worse in the deserts of the world, but in a rather counterintuitive instance of planet watching, it appears that the Sahara desert may actually be shrinking. A few thousand years ago, a mighty river flowed through the Sahara across what is today Sudan. The Wadi Howar—now just a dried-out riverbed for most of the year—sustained not just fish, crocodiles, and hippopotamuses, but also agriculture and human settlement. As late as 1,000 B. a powerful fortress stood on its shores. But then the Sahara dried out, turning from a green savannah into an inhospitable desert. The culprit: climate change. According to desert geologist Stefan Kröpelin, who has studied geological data for the eastern Sahara going back 6,000 years, the desert spread as temperatures dropped. Global cooling meant that the air had less capacity to hold moisture from the oceans, leading to fewer rains and more arid climes. Now, that same process is happening in reverse. As temperatures rise, the Sahara and other dry areas are greening on the edges. “I’ve been studying the Sahara for 30 years and can definitely say that it’s getting greener,” says Kröpelin, who specializes in desert archaeology and climate history at the University of Cologne. Where there used to be nothing but desert, he says, there is now not just grass but shrubs and acacia trees–and he has the photos from 30 years of extensive field study to prove it. “The nomads are taking their camels to graze in areas where they’ve never been able to graze before. ” Satellite data showing more green on the southern edge of the Sahara also bear him out. “There are always winners and losers if weather patterns change,” he says. “But as a general rule, warmer temperatures inevitably mean that the air picks up more moisture from the oceans, which will lead to more rainfall. If you look at the geological records in the Sahara, there have been repeated periods where the Sahara was greener when temperatures were warmer than today. So the desert was originally created around six thousand years ago under this theory. (Clearly caused by the hydraulic fracturing taking place in the Garden of Eden. Darned industrialist snakes…) But now the warmer temperatures are causing more rain at the edges of the desert? The subject is endlessly fascinating. Over the years I’ve heard all sorts of theories being tossed out in the scientific community regarding the planet’s biggest, baddest desert. One of the most recent ones – and for some reason I thought this was generally accepted, but perhaps not – is that the planet’s orbital tilt drifts over time. Around the same time period they’re talking about in this article, the tilt began to change, shifting the planet into a less inclined tilt from then until now. The widely-held belief is that the Sahara dried up due to a change in the Earth’s orbit, which affects solar insolation, or the amount of electromagnetic energy the Earth receives from the Sun. In simpler terms, insolation refers to the amount of sunlight shining down on a particular area at a certain time, and depends on factors such as the geographic location, time of day, season, landscape and local weather. Climate scientist Gavin Schmidt, of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, explained that around 8,000 years ago, the Earth’s orbit was slightly different to how it is today. The tilt changed from around 24. 1 degrees to the present-day 23. 5 degrees. “Additionally, the Earth had its closest approach to the Sun in the northern hemisphere (with) summer in August,” Schmidt said. “Today, that closest approach is in January. So, summertime in the north was warmer back then than it is now. Earlier theories speculated that there was a growing “rain shadow” effect caused by the continually rising Himalayan Mountains, disrupting weather patterns and stopping the rainfall in some areas. Still other have said that eccentricities in the earth’s orbit around the sun (a different consideration than the orbital tilt) have periodically thrown things off kilter in either direction which also contributed to the growth or recession of major deserts. In either event, even if we can’t nail down exactly what’s causing it and to what degree the effects are felt, this must at least be some good news for farmers and herders in Africa. So your counter claim to warming bringing about climate change is…warming bringing about climate change. Or maybe its all a way for people to create jobs and speaking engagements. Like Pres. or vice Pres. Al Gore, Hillary and big time OBAMA. Mini Ice Age in Just 15 Years Predicted 150711. Earth heading for ‘mini ice age’ in just 15 years, scientists say. By Doug G. Ware | Updated July 11, 2015 at 5:36 PM. LLANDUDNO, Wales, July 11 (UPI) — Solar scientists, armed with the best data yet regarding the activities of the sun, say the Earth is headed for a “mini ice age” in just 15 years — something that hasn’t happened for three centuries. Professor Valentina Zharkova, of the University of Northumbria, presented the findings at the National Astronomy Meeting in Wales this week, Britain’s Independent reported Saturday. Researchers, saying they understand solar cycles better than ever, predict that the sun’s normal activity will decrease by 60 percent around 2030 — triggering the “mini ice age” that could last for a decade. The last time the Earth was hit by such a lull in solar activity happened 300 years ago, during the Maunder Minimum, which lasted from 1645 to 1715. Scientists say there are magnetic waves in the sun’s interior that fluctuate between the body’s northern and southern hemispheres, resulting in various solar conditions over a period of 10 to 12 years. Based on that data, researchers say they are now better able to anticipate the sun’s activity — which has led to the Zharkova team’s prediction. “Combining both [magnetic] waves together and comparing to real data for the current solar cycle, we found that our predictions showed an accuracy of 97 percent,” Zharkova said. If the “mini ice age” does indeed arrive, scientists say it will be accompanied by bitter cold winters — frigid enough to cause rivers, like the Thames in London, to freeze over. More interesting is why our President hasn’t addressed the Reptiles problem… as apparently more are afraid of them than Global Warming… though neither of which I find very concerning…. He is on the third hole of the golf course and can’t be disturbed except for a fundraiser for the dem party. Peter Kallman. This researcher’s last name is perfect for a study that suggests the biggest fear Americans have is corrupt government officials. Thank you, Sheri “LED BETTER”. interesting presentation – especially how the zombie detail is presented. ?. I’m guessing that one near the end is supposed to be “Walking ALONE at night”. And, I wish I had money for every person I know who’s told me they got married because they were afraid of being alone. That’s the stupidest dam reason to get married I ever heard of. What the hellll happened to being in love. Good Pick Up! That mistake was made a couple of times in the article. Love or a Teddy Bear!? Good Comment. Americans, apparently, have little fear of smoking and tobacco-related death and disease. Perhaps that’s why tobacco remains the leading cause of preventable death, disease, and disability in the United States, killing over 450,000 Americans each year. Valid point. But if you don’t smoke? 2nd hand smoke is far less common these days, eh? There’s also white-tailed deer: they kill hundreds every year…. Hundreds of What. The Bill of Rights in the U. Constitution is there for a simple reason;. Our Founding Fathers wisely understood that even in a national government of supposedly limited powers could overstep its bounds and infringe upon the rights of the American people. In the landmark Heller and Macdonald decisions, the U. Supreme Court recognized that the Founders considered the Second Amendment a failsafe “Individual Right” that would provide the American people with the ways and means “to oppose an Oppressive Governmental Military Force if the constitutional order ever broke down in America. Whatever else that can be said about the efficacy or integrity of the U. Government these days, America is fortunate that its Citizens still have ample means and ways to seek a peaceful redress of grievances. Yet a new poll shows that the Founders’ very concerns about the overreaching tendencies of centralized power remain on the mind of many U. Citizens throughout America. Gallup reported on Monday that the share of 90% of Americans are saying that the federal government under Obama poses “an immediate and internal threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens” has risen from 30 percent in 2003 to 49 percent today and continues to climb at this very minute…. Those Americans who believe that the government controlled by the Obama Administration poses a real threat say that it does so in a wide range variety of areas, ranging from the feeling that the U. government wields too much executive power in general, to numerous specific concerns. Gallup notes, however, that “[t]he most frequently mentioned specific threats involve Firearms Control Laws and Violations of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which is mentioned by 52% of Americans who perceive the government to be an immediate internal threat. ” That was a greater percentage of Americans than those expressing concern over the governments surveillance of Americans’ email and phone recorded activities, Obama care, and encroachments on freedom of religion, press and other First Amendment Rights Violations by the Obama Administration…. Gallup also reports that during the four-year gap between its 2006 and 2010 polls, the share of Democrat and Democrat-leaning constituents believing the government posed an immediate threat decreased from 59 percent to 26 percent, while the share of Republican GOP and Republican-leaning constituents holding the same opinion increased from 24 percent to 63 percent. For that reason, Gallup concludes that party affiliation tends to determine whether a person perceives a threat, with Liberals more likely to having felt threatened during the presidency of George W. Bush and Conservatives more likely to having the same opinion since Barack Obama took office. However, Gallup’s numbers show that constituents of both parties are more threatened by government power under Obama than they were during the Bush administration. Comparing responses from the two parties by averaging the results of the four polls taken during each administration shows that Democrats are four points more suspicious of government under Obama than Republicans were under Bush. The poll also shows that, overall, Republicans are more threatened by the government under Obama than Democrats were under Bush as seen in Oregon with the protests against Obama with the last shooting there…. But make no mistake, any way you break down the numbers, a growing number of Americans of all political persuasions see the Obama administration as a Real Threat to our freedoms and our way of life than ISIS…. Gallup’s take-away from its polls is that “the persistent finding in recent years that half of the population views the government as an immediate internal threat underscores the degree to which the role and power of government remains a key issue of our time. From the people’s perspective, then, a focus on the appropriate role for government should be at the forefront of the nation’s continuing political discourse and should be a key point of debate in the current presidential election campaigns for the leadership of the White House. The United States is unique in its commitment to an armed citizenry. It is also unique in the level of personal freedoms and self-determinations enjoyed by its peoples. We don’t think that’s a coincidence. We also don’t think it’s any surprise that more and more Americans are feeling concerned about a Obama government that increasingly signals it doesn’t trust them with their fundamental freedoms, including America’s Right to Keep and Bear Arms. One solution, of course, is provided by Article II of the Constitution, which details the manner in which Americans are to elect their next president. We as Americans in 2016 again have the opportunity to exercise that sacred freedom…. Candidates on both sides of the aisle have already begun articulating their views on the Second Amendment, and gun owners should be paying close attention to the Democratic Liberals like Clinton, who are planning to aggressively assault the American Second Amendment. If Americans again elect an Liberal Executive who does not hold the trust of the people, we will have only ourselves to blame…. One minor correction – NOT democratic please! democrat or, my preferred three forms: democrap – demo-turd – demo-tard. Thanks and keep your powder dry. And have for decades, it was higher under Clinton, but dropped under Bush-II. IDK what current numbers are. Suicide is a terrible thing, but the rate is only slightly higher than civilians. And terrorism kills indiscriminately, you just want them to run amok? Unfettered by prevention or fear of getting caught? Or should we all protect our civilian populations from terror attacks? Pretty simple choice, eh. OK, because you are clearly not very bright, I’ll explain. I’m not saying there isn’t terrorism in the world. Clearly there is. But in terms of things the average American needs to worry about, it’s pretty damned low on the list. Do I need to try again with smaller, red-state-sized words so you can understand. Johnathan Swift Jr. The sheer idiocy of statements like this staggers the mind. Yet they are uttered by stupid leftists who of course have a common cause with the jihadists and a common enemy, western civilization. So, this is what explains the constant campaign to minimize the threat of jihadism and then when it happens, to repeat the leftist refrain that “we deserved it. ” I always wonder when this royal “we” comes up, why you folks just don’t offer your own lives up to the jihadists, to pay for the supposed sins of the west. First, there have been a number of successful terrorist attacks by Jihadists on American soil in the past decade. So, I presume you don’t do your maths well. The Boston Marathon Bombing is of course a prime example and of course if you were the family member of the dead servicemen who were killed by the Jihadist who attacked the recruiting centers in America just this year you may not be so glib. Second, the reason that we don’t have Boston style attacks on a frequent basis is not because Jihadists lack the motivation to do so, it is because the Western Nations spend hundreds of billions of dollars on a massive security regime preventing such attacks. I suggest this experiment. Why not have an airline for leftists? One that bans terrorism, but takes no measures to prevent it. One that takes no security measures at all, none of the awful ethnic or religious profiling, no bag checks, no x-rays, no pat downs, one that doesn’t ban guns or box cutters because of course, there is no rational threat, right? It’s all an illusion that Bush or Cheney foisted on you, right? Would you happily ride on Security-Free Airlines, call it “Air Che?”. There was actually a much more complicated attack than 9/11 being planned in the years before 9/11, the 1995 Bojinka plot. It was another one that was discovered due to luck, not particularly good police work. Had the terrorists not started a small chemical fire in their apartment in the Philippines, it would probably have gone through. It would have killed many people in many different countries, all planed from places like the Philippines and Pakistan. Because of the threat of Jihadist terror we have all lost or aborgated many of out civil liberties, The threat of these attacks is constant, the minute the west lets up its guard, the minute French authorities stop sharing information with Belgian or Dutch authorities or Danish authorities with their American or Canadian counterparts, you will see more attacks. According to President Obama’s justice Department, we are monitoring jihadist cells in all city states. The French have thousands of active Jihadists they are attempting to monitor. When a plot is thwarted, the Times Square attack for example, it just goes down the convenient leftist memory hole, as if it didn’t happen. Now of course, if an attack like that was successful and killed hundreds dead, then your point would be moot wouldn’t it? Then there would have been the bloody body count that would show how silly your point of view is. But fortunately, the security officials don’t listen to silly, immature people like you and realize that the cost of freedom is eternal vigilance. The attack on the train in transit from Belgium to France that was thwarted by sheer luck and bravery may have killed hundreds, but because it was stopped, there was no body count. In the states, your security services make arrests and break up plots on a monthly basis. And of course, the threat to “Americans” does not exist only at home. Perhaps if you are working on dial up from Mom’s basement the the threat is more remote? Unfortunately, others of us actually travel or live abroad and so we tend to see things differently. If you would like for a while in a city with widespread de-facto Sharia, perhaps you would gain a little maturity. When I first moved abroad in the 1980s I was a block away from a large bombing in Paris, from Arab terrorists and you never forget the experience. There were dozens of attacks in Paris in those days between the left and the Arab terrorists. But the historically and morally illiterate have forgotten them. Google is your friend. There was a horrible attack at the Lod Airport, then twin, coordinated attacks at Rome and Vienna, massacres. The historically ignorant like yourself are unaware that it was the first wave of coordinated attacks by the left and Arab terrorists that precipitated the first regime of airport security. If those measures would not have been instituted, then we would have seen thousands more massacred and many more planes blown from the skies. But to someone like you, what was prevented doesn’t count. Since 9/11 there have been no less than 22,000 jihadist attacks world wide. This is a transnational movement and right now there is a major move toward trying to get nuclear material and authorities have broken up several plots emanating out of the former Soviet Republics to smuggle material to create a dirty bomb. So, while the threat to any one of us perishing from any single event, especially rare events, be it an earthquake, a tornado, a lightning strike or a terrorist attack is remote, it is not irrational. If we let our guard down and don’t worry about terrorism we’ll certainly have more of it. When it happens, it would be great it could only kill those who are apologists for jihadism and who minimize its aims, goals and threats like you, but unfortunately, the cost of the policies you would propose would be the innocent rather than the idiotic. What are you smoking. Because they are afraid of Gov’t corruption (58%). The whole reason the 2nd Amendment was added to the constitution. “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the national defense, …” seems to imply that it was more expedient for the fledgling nation to have an armed, trained fighting force for repelling external forces, not (as the patently false assertion of the NRA and it’s buddies) to prevent a government take-over! That same document sets for the basis for a government later referred to as “of the people, for the people, by the people. ”. Mark, where in the 2nd Amendment do the words “National Defense” appear? It’s “…to the security of a FREE state”. That says a lot more than just having a quick and cheap army to throw together if the British invade. Here is the 2nd Amendment just so you have it: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ”. Then you’ve got all kinds of other nice things like gangs, civil unrest, break ins and robots ? that law abiding gun owners have no control over but certainly have the right to defend themselves if necessary. I notice that technology and government intrusion are at the top as they should be. There is a new twist now that hits you every time you drive the highways anywhere in America. You are carrying around your entire driving history. Every time an officer stops you and “just seems to know” certain things such as suspension history, dui history, etc. without even asking you, it is because these elements are pre keyed in as anomalies that spike an alarm in the cruiser console caused by license plate imaging. Another control is the way a lot of new toll roads can only be driven with a smart pass or credit card which both leave an electronic trace of the time, date and distance traveled in your vehicle. We have caught up to Orwell and Huxley in spades. It’s much worse than that. Suspension history, dui history, etc. are part of your government records. The police now have threat assessment software that gives the officer a risk analyses (green, yellow, red) of your behaviour using your social media posts. This can be used for ANYTHING from throwing elections to eradicating ethnic or non ethnic groups. There are many instances in the top 10 that have already happened. Why are the americans still afraid of them. Isn’t Race just the next taxonomic rank below Species? There’s nothing wrong to using that term itself, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying all humans are the same race either. It’s not like it’d matter: a Golden Retriever is as much of a dog as a Labrador is. The Order is Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. Animalia, Chordata, Mammalia, Primate, Hommindae, Homo, Sapiens. Every human is contained there. We are all the same species. Well you’re right, but every Human is also included in the Primate Order, and so that’s not exactly the question. It’s like a pyramid: obviously all humans are always in the same categories. But the question is: can it be divided even more, like it is for most animals, or even bacteria and the such? I was reading that it can divide up to the Strain, and that multiple Strains make a Race, so obviously there’s more to it. Are all humans always side-by-side there until the very last smallest division. I’ve never seen a chart of any sub-classification of modern day humans. if there is one,I’d like to see it. The ones you’ve given are the major taxonomic ranks, but there are intermediate and minor ones too. I also wonder if it has been studied for humans: it’d be most interesting, but I get the feeling it’d be used wayyy too much as a racist tool too. I fear you are very correct about that. Well, reptiles are real, sooo… yeah. It takes about two minutes of listening to Rush Limbaugh to realize that global warming is a complete myth. It takes about one week of education and studying to realize that global warming is real. Consequently you can only learn and understand global warming in a classroom or learning environment. People who don’t have access to higher education can not be expected to understand how global warming works. They should not be condemned for their ignorance, its not their fault they don’t understand these complex scientific issues. The reason why over 98% of scientists believe global warming is real and man-made is because they have access to higher education and are kept updated on scientific studies. It is impossible for an uneducated redneck, hillbilly or trailer trash to be expected to understand these scientific issues when they spend most of their time listening to Rush Limbaugh and watching football on television. Dominique, thank you for your honesty in revealing your lack of higher education or the lack of reliability of higher education. I have pasted here the link to the Wall Street Journal article that demonstrates the fallacy of 98% (which is actually 97%). It doesn’t take a rocket scientist, but only at least a redneck, hillbilly or trailer trash with a high school level reading level to assimilate the information and conclude that 97% of 79 respondents DOES NOT represent the entire scientific community. Especially since the majority of the 97 are scientists who have a personal bias that benefits them professionally. I hope you are ASHAMED of your hateful rhetoric toward fine Americans that are certainly more educated than yourself. Your comment also reveals you lack of education. The figure of 97% of scientists involved in the science and study of climate. who understand that the cause of global warming is man made is not from 79 respondents but from the survey of something like 12,000 published papers on the subject. The wall Street journal is hardly an unbiased source of information. Your hypothetical red necked, hillbilly, trailer trash, rocket scientist would do better to read from a wider pool of information. Do you think he may be able to comprehend information presented in skepticalscience. com. to disregard information from scientist due to your perception of their bias ignores that they may know something about the subject. LOL! Lack of edumacation is more like which you display my friend. One thing we edumacted peoples understand is that the amount of knowledge to be known is infinite. Not one individual or group of individuals can ever know all that can be known. So, are you saying the 97 have absolute infinite knowledge? Only a fool relies absolutely on limited knowledge. No mater how much you think the 97 know the amount is still limited. How limited? Well unless you know, or they know, or any one knows how much there is to know about just even this one subject then you have no idea how much they really do know. What can it be? Do they know 99% or 1%, or even maybe less then a fraction of 1%. One thing that science has taught is that all science is not absolute. The 97 would not stand a chance of successfully proving their THEORIES as law against me lay edumacation and the facts that I can demonstrate by the LAW of thermodynamics and other factual sources. One fact is global warming happens! Happens consistently, every year begging about the end of winter and gets really bad about August to September. I think some edumacated peoples call the global warming period summer. You’re an idiot. The usual response from someone who is ignorant, no communicative, obstinate, stubborn, claims to be a liberal but really is dogmatic about their personal opinion and a hypocrite when it come to tolerance. See you at the next global warming event. Where did I claim to be a liberal? And what makes you think I’m “dogmatic” in my opinions. Just the opposite really. I’m open to any idea rationally supported. It’s not so much about the 97 or 99% of scientists, it’s being so “obstinate and stubborn” (to borrow you’re baseless claim) that when you see the evidence right before your eyes in the world around you (you don’t even need the scientists to tell you) you still refuse to accept it. The part of your post that is really laughable though is your statement that you can “demonstrate facts by LAW of thermodynamics “. Where do you come up with this crap? On second thought don’t bother. Have fun at your next global warming event. The only scientists that matter are meteorologists (weathermen & women). They don’t agree with global warming, and all the other scientists have no expertise on the subject. Those non-expert opinions are merely that, and nothing more. Please don’t fall for rhetoric. Do the research based solely on specially trained experts. Also, go see the world for yourself. The media is heavily biased (Democrat & Republicans, both). I want to assure everybody that government corruption is a clear and present danger. In California, my body was hit by a tow truck in front of 14 witnesses, and then the driver fled the scene of the accident. The witnesses got his license plate number and the local police tracked him down. Because the tow truck corporation worked hand in hand with the police, he was not even given a ticket. When I requested payment for my emergency room visit, the tow truck company said they were still checking their truck for any damage my body may have done to the truck. In Hawaii, my homeowners association would not provide me with the roof leak report on the damage done to my neighbors town home. The case went to RICO and then to the Sheriff who investigated it. The RICO Appointed head re interrperted the state law that said that home owners reports are open to law. The sheriff investigated the issue, and was promoted to the prosecutors office (under the Attourny Generals department) after he found that no fault had been committed. The incident was reported to both the Ommbudsman’s and Governor’s office, neither of which has ever responded to me. The Government of the USA is corrupt from top to bottom. But then, we do live in an Oligarchy. I think Chapman U. needs to add a category specific to “registered s*x offenders” in addition to the s*x crime issues in the survey. The media loves to fear registered citizens so I’d like to see where the category ranks. Save-the-date! A little known feature of Arduinos and many other AVR chips is the ability to measure the internal 1. This feature can be exploited to improve the accuracy of the Arduino function – analog. Read() when using the default analog reference. It can also be used to measure the Vcc supplied to the AVR chip, which provides a means of monitoring battery voltage without using a precious analog pin to do so. I first learned of this technique from these articles – Making accurate ADC readings on the Arduino, and Secret Voltmeter. In this article, I have incorporated some additional improvements. Motivation. There are at least two reasons to measure the voltage supplied to our Arduino (Vcc). One is if our project is battery powered, we may want to monitor that voltage to measure battery levels. Also, when battery powered, Vcc is not going to be 5. Why? A common assumption when using analog. Read() is that the analog reference voltage is 5. The official Arduino documentation even leads us to this wrong assumption. The fact is the default analog reference is not 5. Vcc is being supplied to the chip. If our power supply is not perfectly regulated or if we are running on battery power, this voltage can vary quite a bit. Here is example code illustrating the problem: double Vcc = 5. Read(0). double volt = (value / 1. Vcc; // only correct if Vcc = 5. In order to measure analog voltage accurately, we need an accurate voltage reference. Most AVR chips provide three possible sources – an internal 1. Vcc. An external voltage reference is the most accurate, but requires extra hardware. The internal reference is stable, but has about a +/- 1. Vcc is completely untrustworthy in most cases. The choice of the internal reference is inexpensive and stable, but most of the time, we would like to measure a broader range, so the Vcc reference is the most practical, but potentially the least accurate. In some cases it can be completely unreliable! How- To. Many AVR chips including the ATmega series and many ATtiny series provide a means to measure the internal voltage reference. Why would anyone want to do so? The reason is simple – by measuring the internal reference, we can determine the value of Vcc. Here’s how: First set the voltage reference to Vcc. Measure the value of the internal reference. Calculate the value of Vcc. Our measured voltage is: Vcc * (ADC- measurement) / 1. Solving for Vcc, we get: Vcc = 1. ADC- measurement. Putting it altogether, here’s the code: long read. Vcc() . One example would be for checking your battery charge level. You could also use it to determine if you are connected to a power source or running from batteries. Measuring Vcc for Analog Reference. You can also use it to get a correct value for Vcc to use with analog. Read() when using the default (Vcc) voltage reference. Unless you are using a regulated supply, you can’t be sure Vcc is 5. This function will provide the correct value to use. There is one caveat though. Unfortunately, this procedure will not provide that result. It is dependent on the accuracy of the internal voltage reference. The spec sheet gives a nominal value of 1. That means that any measurement of Vcc could be off by as much as 1. Such a measurement could be less accurate than our power supply for the Arduino! Improving Accuracy. While the large tolerance of the internal 1. To do so, simply measure your Vcc with a voltmeter and with our read. Vcc() function. Then, replace the constant 1. L with a new constant: scale. Feel free to experiment with your own measurements. Conclusion. You can do a lot with this little function. You can use a stable voltage reference close to 5. Vcc actually being 5. You can measure your battery voltage or even see if you are running on battery or A/C power. Lastly, the code provided will support all the Arduino variants, including the new Leonardo, as well as the ATtiny. X4 and ATtiny. X5 series chips. Please share any corrections in the comments below. The latest Indian crash test results from Global NCAP released today (17) in Delhi continue to disappoint with all five models rated as zero star. The Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Maruti Suzuki Eeco, Mahindra Scorpio and Hyundai Eon all showed low levels of adult occupant protection. The Renault Kwid was tested in three versions, including one with airbags, but each was rated as zero star for adult safety (see Editors Note). Jeremy Grantham thinks US stocks could crash next year. A lo-fi sci-fi satire for a monetized world. IMDb. Zero Crash. 1h 30min. movie release 2016. Crowd of people gather outside the New York Stock Exchange following the Crash of 1929. Commenting on the latest crash test results, David Ward, Secretary General of Global NCAP said. “The latest SaferCarsforIndia results show how important it is for cars to have a body shell that can remain stable in a crash. This is an absolutely crucial pre-requisite for occupant safety together with fitment at least of front air bags. It is very surprising that a manufacturer like Renault introduced the Kwid initially lacking this essential feature. Global NCAP strongly believes that no manufacturer anywhere in the world should be developing new models that are so clearly sub-standard. Car makers must ensure that their new models pass the UN’s minimum crash test regulations, and support use of an airbag. “We welcome Renault’s efforts to correct this and we look forward to testing another improved version with airbags.
Renault has a strong record of achievement in safety in Europe and it should offer the same commitment to its customers in India. ”. Speaking during the Indian Automobile Safety Conference hosted by IRTE in Faridabad, Ward continued. “The results highlight the importance of the Indian Government’s decision to mandate front and side impact crash tests from October 2017. Legislative action is needed to ensure that the minimum levels of occupant protection recommended by the United Nations are guaranteed for Indian consumers. But manufacturers don’t have to wait for legislation and we urge them to act to eliminate all zero star cars from production as soon as possible. “Global NCAP also welcomes the forthcoming launch of a Bharat New Car Assessment Programme which can help build a market for safer cars in India. ”. Global NCAP tested the standard version of the Kwid without airbags. It scored zero stars in adult occupant protection and two stars in child occupant protection. The collapse of the structure in the passenger compartment and the lack of airbags explained the poor result. Following safety improvements Renault proposed that Global NCAP test an updated evolution of the Kwid in production from early April 2016. The car was tested with and without an airbag. The new Kwid without an airbag scored zero stars in the adult occupant protection and two stars in child occupant protection. The structure did not collapse however it was rated as unstable and that it could not withstand further loadings. It was possible to see the structural reinforcements implemented in this version of the Kwid but when Global NCAP checked the left (passenger) side, there were no reinforcements. The structure was reinforced only on the driver side. The new Kwid with the addition of driver airbag was also tested. This version also scored zero stars in the adult occupant protection and two stars in child occupant protection. The structure was the same as the new KWID without airbags but a high compression in the dummy chest area explains the low score. Renault has confirmed that they will implement further improvements to the KWID and Global NCAP will test these new evolutions in forthcoming crash tests. KWID (I) NO AIRBAGS. KWID (III) NO AIRBAGS. KWID (III) WITH DRIVER AIRBAG. Mahindra Scorpio scored zero stars in the adult occupant protection and two stars in child occupant protection. The collapse of the structure combined with the lack of airbags explains the score for the adult occupants protection which means that there is high probability of life threatening injuries for at least one of the adult passengers. Suzuki Maruti Eeco. The non airbag Eeco scored zero stars in the adult occupant protection and one star in child occupant protection. The collapse of the structure in the passenger compartment and the lack of airbags explained the poor result in adult occupant protection. This model does not offer optional airbags. Considering the structural collapse airbags are not likely to help avoid life threatening injuries to the driver. The Hyundai Eon is offered in the standard version without airbags. It scored zero stars in the adult occupant protection and two stars in child occupant protection. The unstable structure in the passenger compartment and the lack of airbags explained the poor result in adult occupant protection. Suzuki Maruti Celerio. The non airbag Maruti Suzuki Celerio scored zero stars in adult occupant protection and one star in child occupant protection. The lack of airbags explained the poor result in adult occupant protection. The low score in child occupant protection is explained by the high values recorded in the 3 year old child dummy as well as its forward excursion beyond the accepted limits. As a result of Global NCAP’s SaferCarsforIndia crash testing Renault has sought to improve the safety performance of the Kwid. Four versions of the Kwid have been produced with different safety features, with the fourth only recently released and yet to be tested by Global NCAP. Despite the safety improvements Renault has sought to introduce all of the versions tested to date have been rated as zero star for adult protection. The different versions of the Kwid are summarised below:. Kwid (I) tested without airbags achieved zero stars for adult protection 18,091 units produced (until VIN No. VIN MEEBBA005G1323780). Kwid (II) not tested Estimated 25,000 units produced from January 2016 (from VIN No. VIN MEEBBA005G1323781). Kwid (III) tested with driver airbag and without airbags both versions achieved zero stars for adult protection 5,000 units produced from April 2nd, 2106 (from VIN No. VIN MEEBBA005G4350297). Kwid (IV) yet to be tested by Global NCAP produced from May 9th 2016 (from VIN No. MEEBBA008G5362695). ![]() Choose Your Passion Below And Meet Singles Now. i want to meet a man. sign up today, and date someone tonight! - JOIN NOW.
